Sky Sports pundit sends Todd Cantwell message ahead of Rangers v Celtic in Scottish Cup final

Kenny Miller has told Todd Cantwell he must get used to being criticised by Rangers fans after poor performances and praised when things are going well.

The Englishman has had an up-and-down season as the Gers finished second while Celtic won their third consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Cantwell has frustrated fans at times with his performances as well as comments he has made in post-match interviews.

Writing for the Daily Record (19 May), Miller has told the midfielder to get used to negative comments from fans as Rangers fans expect the best.

He said: “When he speaks after an impressive display, I hear him talking about the criticism he’s had and proving people wrong. Well, I’m sorry Todd, but you’re at Rangers. That comes with the territory. When you’re on top in Glasgow, everyone loves you and you’re praised to the hilt.

“When you’re second best, the flak flies. That’s the way it is – and it’s where Rangers are right now. Whether he likes it or not, their recent form has been poor. So guess what? You have to deal with it.”

How has Todd Cantwell performed for Rangers this season?

Cantwell moved to Ibrox from Norwich City in January 2023 and has gone on to make over 60 appearances for the club.

In that time he has scored 14 goals which is a decent return given he had failed to score in his previous 31 appearances for Norwich and Bournemouth.

This season he has gone on to score seven and assist five goals [FotMob] with him scoring in back-to-back games against Dundee and Hearts to end the season.

He has made 30 appearances for the Gers this season and has been one of their more consistent performers so far this campaign.

Considering that Rangers paid just £1.5 million [The Sun] for his signature, he has proved to be a positive piece of business.

He has performed well at times this campaign and with the Scottish Cup final coming up, he will be hopeful of having a positive impact against Celtic.
