Philippe Clement already has Rangers team talk ahead of Old Firm as Celtic footage emerges

Rangers should need no extra motivation against Celtic as they prepare for the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park, though one Hoops star has just handed them some.

The Old Firms rivals are set to go head-to-head for the fifth time this season as they meet in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday 25 May, and the Gers will be hoping to win their first of the campaign.

Still under Michael Beale’s leadership, the Ibrox crowd witnessed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Kyogo Furuhashi before Philippe Clement arrived in October to offer some more hope against their rivals.

Despite a tightly contested Scottish Premiership title race, Celtic were still able to overcome Rangers, dropping just two points in the process amid a 3-3 draw at Ibrox in April.

Of course, Clement can still finish the season with a domestic double, having lifted the League Cup against Aberdeen in December, and will need no extra incentive to defeat the Gers’ biggest rivals.

However, Cameron Carter-Vickers has certainly done his best to rile up the Rangers squad ahead of the Scottish Cup final, which he may live to regret if Clement’s side can take inspiration from it.

After the Hoops were crowned league champions, a video of the centre-back was shared via X on Thursday (16 May), shouting: “Unlucky Rangers, three in a row.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers mocks Rangers ahead of Scottish Cup Old Firm

Clement has already faced a lot of criticism due to not being able to defeat Celtic during his first season in Scotland, despite having several chances to do so.

Of course, the manager cannot really be blamed for the latest Old Firm result, especially after John Lundstram’s first-half sending-off for a challenge on Alistair Johnston.

He will take a lot of positives from that display, though, having been able to hold out against the Hoops, who had a one-man advantage for over 45 minutes. The video of Carter-Vickers should only spur his players on more in the Cup final.

There will be even more questions raised during the summer if Rangers are unable to achieve victory in the Scottish Cup final, though it must be said that the club are likely to undergo a huge rebuild during the transfer market.
