Sky Sports pundit reacts as Celtic told to make summer transfer push for Rangers star Abdallah Sima

Kenny Miller has reacted to a Celtic fan live on air who has suggested the Hoops should move to sign Rangers loanee Abdallah Sima this summer.

The Brighton loanee has been in excellent form when fit under Philippe Clement this season, but it remains to be seen whether or not the Gers are financially equipped to secure his signature permanently.

While the Gers boss has admitted that he would be desperate to keep the Senegalese international during the summer transfer window, one Celtic fan told Sky Sports pundit Miller the Hoops should swoop in.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard (17 May) the fan said: “My main point tonight is that Celtic have got money to spend this summer, I think we should go in for Sima, take him from under Rangers’ nose.”

Miller replied: “At the end of the day, I don’t think Celtic would be looking for a signing like that. Sima’s had a wonderful season but I would put him in a similar category to Maeda, Celtic need a winger, but Sima’s not the type.

“By the way, he’s going to cost £7-£8million, you’re not spending that just to be part of the squad.”

Will Rangers or Celtic sign Abdallah Sima in the summer transfer window?

While several of Michael Beale’s summer signing at Ibrox have flatted to deceive in a Rangers shirt, Sima has been one that impressed almost from the off with some excellent domestic and European displays.

The only slight on the forward’s record is the fact that he has struggled with fitness issues throughout the campaign. It seems unlikely the Gers would be willing to pay such a big transfer fee for a player who is so often sidelined.

Maybe Celtic would be interested in securing his services, but even with their Champions League riches, it seems unlikely Brendan Rodgers would be breaking the bank to bring him back to Glasgow.

Hopefully, the Light Blues will be able to strike some sort of deal to bring the Brighton man back north of the border this summer. Whatever happens, most fans won’t want to see him wearing hoops next term.
