Four Lads slams James Tavernier as Rangers ‘major concern’ mooted, David Edgar agrees

Four Lads Had A Dream has slammed Rangers captain James Tavernier after Philippe Clement’s side drew 3-3 with Hearts on Saturday (18 May).

The Gers missed several chances to score the opener before Lawrence Shankland fired over Jack Butland, taking a one-goal lead into the half-time break.

Rangers took a 3-1 lead through Ross McCausland, Todd Cantwell and Fabio Silva. However, an 82nd goal from Dexter Lembikisa and an equaliser from Kyosuke Tagawa in the fifth minute of added time saw the Ibrox side squander their lead.

Taking to X on Saturday (18 May), Four Lads wrote: “Captain is a major concern, on and off the ball,” to which David Edgar replied: “Agreed. Every game people are just waltzing down our right side.”

James Tavernier criticised as Rangers fall flat at Tynecastle Park

While the 32-year-old may have not been directly involved in any of the late flurry of goals, his actions as captain and leader should have had a telling say on the final result.

Of course, the draw has no real impact on the Scottish Premiership, with Celtic already winning the league title, but Rangers needed all three points before heading to Hampden Park for the Scottish Cup final.

Despite netting 24 goals in all competitions this season, Tavernier was clearly not at his best at Tynecastle and that will be worrying ahead of the final match of the season.

Having been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, it would be a real shame for his nine-year Rangers career to come to an end off the back of such criticism.
