Rangers hero Barry Ferguson reveals what he forced himself to do as Celtic celebrated title
Barry Ferguson forced himself to watch Celtic and their title celebrations to use as motivation for the Rangers players ahead of the Scottish Cup final.
The Gers’ Old Firm rivals thrashed Kilmarnock, away from home, 5-0 to secure the Scottish Premiership title on Wednesday (15 May).
This was a frustrating night for Rangers fans and was clearly something felt by Ferguson as he told the Daily Record (17 May) what he did after the game.
He said: “I made myself sit through it all. I took in every minute of the game AND the celebrations. With a clenched jaw and furrowed brow, I sat and watched the Celtic players dancing, singing and celebrating with their fans – and refused to turn off.
“Why? Because this has to be the driving force now. It just so happens to be the Scottish Cup Final in eight days’ time. Brilliant. What a chance to have the last say on the season and be the ultimate party poopers.”
Rangers prepare for Scottish Cup Old Firm clash
Philippe Clement will have to pick his side off and dust them off after losing out on the title to their bitter rivals once again.
They first face Hearts away from home on Saturday (18 May) in a warm-up game for the cup final at Hampden Park.
The league table can’t change but a win should be a must to prepare for the end-of-season clash the week after.
Hearts sit third so won’t be an easy challenge especially with Lawrence Shankland leading their forward line.

It will arguably be an ideal fixture to keep Clement’s side up to scratch to be ready to face Celtic who will have done some partying no doubt.
The final will be very tough and will need the Light Blues to have key players all on song if they are to win the Scottish Cup.
Their form against Celtic isn’t ideal but the game could represent a turning point ahead of next campaign.
