Sir Rod Stewart blasts talkSPORT ‘disrespect’ as he reacts to Rangers and Celtic claim
Sir Rod Stewart has slammed Simon Jordan for his comments about Scottish football on talkSPORT suggesting Rangers could compete in England with the same resources.
Graeme Souness clashed with the businessman and broadcaster on talkSPORT (13 May) discussing the quality of the Gers and Celtic.
Comments made have struck a nerve with Stewart who has since taken to Instagram (15 May) to voice his frustrations with Jordan.
He said: “I’m absolutely sick and tired of the constant disrespect of Scottish Football shown down South. Especially by one Mr Simon ‘motor mouth’ Jordan. It’s our game, we know it’s not the EPL or La Liga but it’s our game and I love it.
“One thing Graeme Souness quite rightly pointed out the other day on TalkSport, if Celtic or Rangers were in the Championship with the money that’s dished out by Sky it would only be a couple of years and we would be able to compete, no doubt about that.
“So shut the [expletive] up Jordan and leave Scottish football alone.”
How can Rangers compete with Celtic next season?
It has been a frustrating season for Rangers given they have lost out on the league title to their bitter rivals once again.
After a convincing win over Kilmarnock (15 May), Brendan Rogers’ side have confirmed three in a row.
The Light Blues had a slow start under Michael Beale who took charge in November 2022 but only lasted 11 months.
There is no doubt that Philippe Clement has steadied the ship but after an Old Firm defeat at Parkhead, the title race slipped away.
There will be a need for new signings over the summer transfer window as the Belgian looks to close the gap in the title race.

This will be especially necessary should he lose key players this summer which may leave his squad bare.
There is value to be had in the market and with the scouting networks that are already in place, Rangers can once again find some bargains.
They need to find some top players to help make that gap smaller to Celtic next campaign.
