Philippe Clement sack verdict by Sky Sports journalist as Celtic beat Rangers to title
Dan Bardell has suggested that Rangers must give Philippe Clement pre-season and a transfer window before deciding on his future at Ibrox.
After a 5-0 win over Kilmarnock (15 May), Celtic confirmed that they had won the Scottish Premiership with a game to spare.
Gers fans had resigned themselves to the fact the title had slipped away from them after a 2-1 Old Firm defeat at Parkhead (11 May).
This has sparked conversation regarding the Belgian’s future in the dugout at Ibrox ahead of the next campaign.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes time will prove to be pivotal if Clement does succeed with Rangers.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, Bardell said: “I never think you’ll see a manager’s best work when they’ve done half a season. Unfortunately in Scotland, second is last so you’re under pressure if you finish second.
“I think he needs a little bit more time, he did a brilliant job when he first came in and got them shooting towards the top again and playing well.
“Give him a pre-season, let him work with the club and bring in some players that suit what he wants and give the manager time.
“The best clubs now are the ones that have given their manager time and haven’t just kept chopping and changing and I think there’s been enough there across this season to say give him a shot next season then see where they’re at, back him and give him a chance.”
Should Philippe Clement be given more time with Rangers?
It has been a frustrating campaign for the Light Blues which will end without a Scottish Premiership title once again.
There is still a chance for a cup to come back to Ibrox as yet another Old Firm is on the horizon with the final at Hampden Park.
Given where the club were with Michael Beale in charge, Clement has done well to turn things around and bring some positivity.
The suggestion from certain sections of supporters could be put down to recency bias after a rough patch of form.

There is likely to be a mass exodus from Rangers over the summer transfer window which will give Clement a chance to put his imprint on the squad.
With a preseason and a transfer window in his back pocket coming into next season, he can be judged more closely.
Right now he is playing with a jumbled squad with some injuries going against him in his first half-season in the Scottish Premiership.
Clement certainly deserves a chance with his own squad next season.
