Philippe Clement ‘unhappy’ at Rangers, something isn’t right behind the scenes at Ibrox
Chris Sutton feels “something isn’t right” behind the scenes at Rangers after what he heard Philippe Clement say this week.
Clement raised the number of injury setbacks his side have had ahead of Tuesday’s (14 May) Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee.
The Belgian suggested he will look to overhaul his medical staff given the number of injury problems he has had to contend with.
Referencing those comments on Sky Sports, as shared via X [14 May], Sutton said: “At his press conference, he kept mentioning about these injuries and the medical side of things, so he’s clearly unhappy about something.
“I expect there to be big changes there. He’s clearly rattled by that. Something isn’t right because they’re not singing off the same hymn sheet, and that’s a problem.”
Philippe Clement not happy about injury record
Clement pointed out that Rangers have been without nine players as he hit back when asked if there is a “big gap” between the Gers and Celtic.
That is a fair assessment, especially when you consider Rangers have been better than Celtic points wise since Clement arrived at Ibrox.
With a fully-fit squad, there is no reason why this exact same Gers side cannot finish above the exact same Celtic side next season.
That will not be the case, of course, as players will move on and others will be brought in – and it sounds like there will be changes off the field.
Clement has proved to be a superb managerial appointment, and the club must ensure they do everything to keep him happy.
While the 2023-24 campaign may end in disappointment – that depends on the Scottish Cup final – it is important to remain positive.
As long as Clement is at the helm, and he has a full squad to choose from, the title will be back at Ibrox in a year’s time.
