Chris Sutton aims instant dig at Rangers as Celtic clinch Scottish Premiership title
Chris Sutton has aimed a dig at Rangers after Celtic clinched the Scottish Premiership title.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were crowned champions following their 5-0 victory away against Kilmarnock on Wednesday (15 May).
And Sutton has wasted little time aiming a dig at the Gers via X (15 May).
The ex-Celtic star wrote, “Well played Brendan Rodgers and Celtic on yet another title.
“Special praise for Joe Hart, Matt O’Riley and the classy Callum McGregor and James Forrest. Serial winners who do their talking on the pitch.”
Chris Sutton will not be a popular man at Ibrox among Rangers supporters
Despite their side not playing, it has proven to be a miserable evening for Rangers supporters.
Sutton has wasted little time rubbing salt in relatively fresh wounds and while his social media post made no mention of the Gers, the underlying message was overwhelmingly clear.
Unfortunately for Rangers supporters, they can do very little but accept Sutton’s dig.
It has been a largely positive season, and at times it looked as if Philippe Clement might guide Rangers to their first Scottish Premiership since the 2020/2021 season.
But it was not to be, as Celtic have now clinched their third title in a row, bringing to an end one of the most exciting Scottish title races in years.
However, considering Clement has had little time to work his magic at Ibrox, the Rangers faithful will be excited to see what the Belgian can do with a full season at the helm.
For now, they will have to wait patiently to hit back at Sutton’s little dig.
