Tam McManus mocks Rangers star Cyriel Dessers after what he said about Celtic
Tam McManus has mocked Cyriel Dessers after what he said about the gap between Rangers and Celtic following another Old Firm defeat.
The Hoops claimed a vital 2-1 win over their fierce rivals to all but seal a 12th league title in 13 years, despite Dessers’ goal at Celtic Park giving his side hope during the game.
Speaking ahead of Rangers’ clash with Dundee (13 May), Dessers claimed the gap between the two sides wasn’t that big and that the four games between the sides this season “were really close”, but reacting on his personal X account (13 May) pundit McManus questioned the validity of his statement.
“Was I watching different games this season?” he asked, mocking the striker’s comments.
Rangers and Celtic gap isn’t big, but it’s clearly there
The gap between the two Old Firm clubs certainly isn’t big, and that’s why the title race has gone down to the final two games of the season.
But there is a gap there in the favour of the Hoops, and unless Rangers get their summer business and squad overhaul right then it will only grow.
Philippe Clement’s side have shown in the three games against Celtic since he has been manager that they’re more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Brendan Rodgers’ side, but they have started too slowly and individual mistakes have cost them.
Without those errors, you could easily argue that Rangers have had the better of the games and on another day had they taken their chances they’d have won.
They have the better players and they have winners in their squad currently, but that is something that Clement can and will surely address this summer and then the conversation next season could be completely different.
In other Rangers news, McManus has claimed Celtic could “bury Rangers” this summer.
