Abdallah Sima transfer prediction emerges at Rangers after £8m Brighton update

Rangers manager Philippe Clement may find that a permanent move for Abdallah Sima this summer is “out of reach”, according to Barry Ferguson.

The Brighton loanee has enjoyed a reasonable season on loan at Ibrox, scoring 11 goals and laying on two assists in 34 Scottish Premiership appearances in a campaign that has been disrupted by injuries.

Reports have suggested the Light Blues are optimistic that they can agree on a deal to sign the 22-year-old permanently, Gers legend Ferguson believes Brighton value him at £8million and doubts whether the Rangersa= could match that price

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (14 May, 14:10) he said: “I like Sima, I think everybody will agree. I’ve seen enough of Sima to think that he will be a really good player.

“But his market value is something like £8million. I think that could be out of reach for Rangers.”

Will Rangers sign Abdallah Sima permanently from Brighton in the summer transfer window?

Every Rangers fan will want to sign Sima permanently. Barring Jack Butland, the Senegalese international has arguably been the most effective signing from Michael Beale’s summer splurge at Ibrox.

However, with no Champions League football, it could well be hard for Clement to convince the Ibrox board to allow him to spend £8million on one player, especially when Sima has missed so much of the season.

That money could be spent improving several areas of the squad and may be required if the Belgian wants to undertake a drastic rebuild of the playing squad as he has suggested. That sort of business just may not be viable.

Clement will also be keen to put his own stamp on the squad in his first summer transfer window. He may not feel that he wants remnants of Beale’s era around the club and may view fresh faces as a requirement.

Hopefully, some deal can be struck with Brighton and maybe even a second loan switch could be arranged but at this moment in time it seems incredibly unlikely the 22-year-old will make the permanent move to Glasgow.
