Tam McManus batters ‘Crazy’ John Lundstram after ‘All-time stinker’ for Rangers v Celtic

Tam McManus has blasted Rangers star John Lundstram after he dropped an “all-time stinker” in the team’s 2-1 defeat to Celtic on Saturday 11 May.

The hosts all but claimed the SPFL title at Celtic Park thanks to Matt O’Riley and a Lundstram own goal, before the midfielder was shown a straight red card after Rangers had got back into the game through a Cyriel Dessers header in a wild ten minute spell in the first-half.

But McManus took to his personal X account (11 May) and said he believes that Philippe Clement’s side came up short when it mattered once again, and criticised the 30-year-old ex-Sheffield United man for his performance.

“Celtic made very hard work of that in the second half,” he wrote. “So sloppy at times and allowed Rangers to stay in the game, but in truth once Celtic got [the] first [goal] that was it.

“Again Rangers come up short when it matters. Lundstram with an all-time stinker, own goal and crazy red card.”

Rangers need a clearout ahead of next season

It’s been clear for a while, but it’s arguably never been clearer that Rangers need a huge overhaul of the squad this summer at Ibrox.

Lundstram has become a key player under Philippe Clement, but the manager should know better by now that he can’t rely on him and with his contract expiring it’s the perfect time to find an upgrade.

The same can be said of several other players including the likes of Ben Davies, Borna Barisic, Scott Wright and potentially even James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.

It then shouldn’t be forgotten that the likes of Fabio Silva have struggled to make a big impact since his arrival in January, while Todd Cantwell is seemingly being taken out of contention too.

Big changes are needed, and big names need to move on. Clement must get the decisions right this summer, and there will be plenty of them.
