Four Lads Had A Dream blast Tom Lawrence after loss v Celtic, want several Rangers players to leave Ibrox
Four Lads Had A Dream have blasted Rangers for their performance in the 2-1 defeat to Celtic and called for several players to leave the club.
Matt O’Riley and a John Lundstram own goal before a Cyriel Dessers strike in the first-half was enough to claim all three points for the Hoops, before Lundstram was shown a straight red card before half-time as Philippe Clement’s side all but surrendered their hopes of winning the title.
But it was Tom Lawrence who received criticism from the fan podcast via their X account (11 May), before they called for Lundstram “and several others” to leave Ibrox this summer.
“The selection was wrong, everyone shouldn’t be able to predict what would happen,” they wrote.
“Midfield was slow, Lawrence anonymous, we were better when energy of Raskin and Yilmaz came on but too late.
“That aside, Lundstram completely sold the jerseys. Sooner he and several others go the better.”
Rangers squad needs a summer overhaul again
It feels like a case of deja vu because it was just one year ago that fans were calling for a squad overhaul at Ibrox in order to be able to catch Celtic, and they got one under Michael Beale.
But much like his performance as manager, it looks better on paper than it actually was and now a host of players are once again fighting for their future at Ibrox.
Lundstram and Borna Barisic both look set to move on at the end of their contracts, while the future of players like Scott Wright, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are very much in the limelight too.
Celtic are about to seal a 12th league title in 13 years and while they haven’t been up against Rangers directly for all of those, it still simply isn’t good enough and this core of players have been part of a lot of the failure.
Philippe Clement needs to put his stamp on the squad and really push to change things throughout the summer, and it should be the end of the road for many at the club now.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton believes the title race is done after Celtic’s 2-1 win at Parkhead.
