Celtic fans slammed as ‘disgraceful’ for what they did during Rangers match at Parkhead
Gary Keown has slammed Celtic fans after Rangers captain James Tavernier was hit with various objects thrown from the crowd on Saturday (11 May).
Police were alerted throughout the game as objects including glass bottles and even a marijuana grinder were allegedly thrown onto the pitch.
This saw Tavernier hand an object to referee, Willie Collum, during the game that had been thrown in his direction from the stands.
In a post to X, which has since been deleted, Keown made his feelings about the Celtic fans’ behaviour clear.
He said: “Disgraceful stuff at Celtic Park yesterday.”
What went wrong for Rangers v Celtic?
It is safe to say that having no away fans at the Old Firm always seems to benefit the home side to see them be on top.
This was how it transpired at Parkhead on Saturday (11 May) as Brendan Rogers’ side dominated possession and translated that into chances.
Jack Butland was on top form as he made top saves from Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley’s penalty but it wasn’t enough.
The Dane opened the scoring before a bizarre John Lundstram own goal put Philippe Clement’s side 2-0 down.

The Gers looked to be back in it when Cyriel Dessers halved the deficit but when Lundstram was sent off, the game was always going to be an uphill task.
Two moments of madness from the Englishman helped to swing the game in Celtic’s favour and that has ultimately ended any chance of a title for Rangers.
It wasn’t an Old Firm to remember as the title race slipped away once more.
