Heart and Hand slams ‘absolute disgrace’ John Lundstram in Rangers v Celtic

Heart and Hand has slammed John Lundstram for his Old Firm performance as Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at Celtic Park on Saturday (11 May).

The 30-year-old scored an own goal to double the Hoops’ lead before a shocking challenge on Alistair Johnston left Willie Collum with no choice but to send him off following a VAR review.

With the Scottish Premiership title on the line, Cyriel Dessers had handed the Gers a lifeline as he halved the deficit before Lundstram went flying into the challenge on the Celtic full-back.

Taking to X on Saturday (11 May), David Edgar wrote: “Lundstram is an absolute disgrace.”

John Lundstram wrecks Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title chances

Despite being one of the most experienced players on the pitch, Lundstram left the field red-faced and ruining any hopes Rangers still had left of pipping their rivals to the league title.

Having scored an own goal, it was already an unusually poor performance from the Englishman, which was only exacerbated as his challenge gave Collum no other choice but to send him off.

Before the match, the Old Firm rivals were separated by three points, and while the players should be prepared for every game, Lundstram should certainly know better.

While the ball was definitely there to be won, it was a dreadful tackle on Johnston and could be one of his last actions in a Rangers shirt ahead of the summer transfer window.

John Lundstram was sent off for a wild lunge in Rangers’ recent 2-1 loss at Celtic Park.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Ibrox this summer, with Trabzonspor and Ipswich Town said to be interested. If this is to be his last performance for the Gers, it would be a disappointing way to bow out.

Celtic are now in prime position to grab yet another Scottish Premiership title while Rangers will need to reflect on the entire display and attempt to finish the campaign with pride.

In other Rangers news, a European club may now be ready to splash millions on a first-team Gers player after their recent announcement.
