Chris Sutton raises Celtic ‘issue’ live from Parkhead ahead of Rangers kick-off
Chris Sutton has raised an “issue” that he feels could deny Celtic victory against Rangers as he offered his pre-match thoughts from Parkhead.
Rangers are due to kick off against Celtic at 12:30pm on Saturday (11 May) in a game that is simply must-win from the Gers’ perspective.
Sutton is on commentary duty for the game and shared his final predictions a little over two hours ahead of the game.
“It’s about being controlled in this game. I sense, with what’s at stake, there could be a few cards, a couple of reds,” he told Sky Sports News [11 May, 10:13am].
“It’s the nature of the game – it’s so extreme with three games to go. The pressure is on both teams.
“Many Celtic fans think it’s a foregone conclusion, but I don’t think it will be. My issue with Celtic is how many times they’ve played at a high level in back-to-back games.”
Rangers know what they have to do to beat Celtic
As much of a cliche as it is, Rangers must simply focus on their own game and not be preoccupied by what Celtic do.
Philippe Clement has now had two bites of the cherry against Celtic and has hopefully learned what works and what doesn’t.
Celtic have won four in a row in all competitions – albeit one of those was an extra-time cup win – most recently thumping Hearts 3-0.

It goes without saying that Brendan Rodgers’ side are in decent form, but they do tend to follow up impressive wins with underwhelming displays.
Rangers will hope that pattern continues in what is a truly massive contest. This is not an occasion for any player in blue to hide away.
And as for Sutton’s prediction of a couple of red cards, if any Gers player needlessly gets themselves sent off then they will not hear the last of it.
