Barry Ferguson predicts result of Rangers ‘last chance saloon’ Old Firm clash v Celtic
Rangers will pick up their first Old Firm derby win of the season when they face Celtic on Saturday 11 May, according to Barry Ferguson.
The Light Blues make the trip across Glasgow for the second time this season under Philippe Clement and the former Gers captain thinks the Belgian will finally break his duck against the Hoops and run out 2-1 winners.
A win would keep the Gers in the Premiership title race and while Ferguson admits that this is the Light Blues’ “last chance saloon” he doesn’t think Clement’s side should worry about playing entertaining football.
Writing for the Daily Record on Friday (10 May) he said: “Rangers have to throw everything at this 90 minutes. This is the last chance saloon.
“I wouldn’t care if I played like I had two left boots on so long as we took all three points. Just keep the title alive at all costs.”
Will Rangers and Philippe Clement keep the Premiership title alive v Celtic at Parkhead?
As Ferguson suggests, it is now or never for the Gers and Clement. They will know that only a win will genuinely keep them in the races for the Premiership title this season and even then, nothing is set in stone.
The Light Blues have been much better under the Belgian this term, barring a recent dip in form, but they still haven’t been able to find a way to consistently beat their Glasgow rivals and that has come back to bite them.

Too often some of the key players in Clement’s side have made big errors and the players in Celtic’s side are too good to let those slide. For Rangers to claim all three points on Saturday they may have to be almost faultless.
Whether or not the Gers are capable of that remains to be seen, but they’re heading into this match under as much pressure as possible. This is the biggest test of whether or not this group has what it takes to win titles.
