Chris Sutton predicts result of Rangers Old Firm ‘thriller’ v Celtic in ‘high-scoring’ admission
Rangers’ wait for a win in the Old Firm derby under Philippe Clement will be extended against Celtic on Saturday 11 May, according to Chris Sutton.
The Sky Sports pundit doesn’t believe that the Light Blues will be able to boost their Premiership title hopes when they face Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops at Parkhead, predicting Celtic will claim all three points with a 3-2 win.
Rodgers’ side haven’t been at their best either this season, but a win on Saturday would see them move six points clear of the Gers and Sutton admits that he expects the Hoops to come out on top in a “thriller”.
Writing for the Daily Record on Friday (10 May) he said: “The previous encounter between the sides was a high-scoring affair and I’m expecting more of the same this time around. Celtic to edge a five-goal thriller.”
Will Rangers and Philippe Clement beat Celtic and Brendan Rodgers to the Premiership title?
While the pressure is well and truly on Rangers to go and get a result at Parkhead, the task for Clement’s side couldn’t be much simpler and that could well be a bonus when it comes to the title race.
Win and the hopes of a Premiership win live on for another week at least. Lose and the title will be staying on the green side of Glasgow for yet another year. It really is almost that cut and dry.
The Gers showed at Ibrox earlier this season that they are more than capable of putting the Hoops under pressure, but they need their biggest names to show up and perform to the best of their ability if they want to win on Saturday.

James Tavernier and Cyriel Dessers cannot afford to make the same mistakes that they have done in previous Old Firm showdowns because the likes of Kyogo and Daizen Maeda will be ready and waiting to take advantage.
Hopefully, Sutton’s prediction will be wrong and the Light Blues will get one over their neighbours.
