Rangers attacker Todd Cantwell position change mooted by BBC pundit v Celtic

Lee McCulloch believes that Rangers attacker Todd Cantwell could even start on the left wing against Celtic on Saturday, 11 May.

Philippe Clement’s side need to pick up the three points if they are to win the 56th SPFL title this term.

However, McCulloch, a BBC pundit, believes the 26-year-old may play on the left wing, a position he hasn’t featured in this season, according to WhoScored.

He told PLZ Soccer on 7 May at 30:08: “With Celtic being so strong in the middle of the pitch I just think Sterling could start in the middle of the pitch. Maybe Cantwell out wide or McCausland coming in and Cantwell on the left.”

Can Todd Cantwell make the difference for Rangers v Celtic?

The stakes are extremely high in a crucial match for Gers where they need to secure a victory to keep their hopes alive for the title.

With this in mind, Clement might need to make some tactical adjustments to surprise their opponents and achieve the desired result.

One such adjustment could be deploying Cantwell on the left wing, a position he hasn’t featured in this season.

By doing so, Clement aims to disrupt Celtic’s strong midfield presence and add unpredictability to Gers’ attack.

This bold move could potentially catch Celtic off guard and provide the Gers side with the necessary edge to overcome their rivals.

Given the do-or-die nature of the match, Clement has little to lose by taking this calculated risk, and it could be the key to unlocking a victory that keeps their title aspirations alive.
