Michael Stewart predicts Rangers v Celtic showdown live on BBC Sportscene
Michael Stewart has offered his prediction as Rangers face Celtic in a crucial Scottish Premiership clash on Saturday (11 May).
Philippe Clement’s side travel to Celtic Park following a 4-1 comeback against Kilmarnock on Sunday 5 May, with the league title balanced on a knife edge heading into the match.
While the Gers are just three points behind their Old Firm rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, a victory would see goal difference become the only thing separating the two sides.
Speaking via BBC Sportscene on Sunday (5 May), Stewart said: “Rangers need to win the game, there’s no doubt about that. Who’s going to win it?
“I think, for me, when you see Celtic’s players back, they’re in a good position now. They’ve got their main players back, they’re hitting good form, and the final piece of the jigsaw is having James Forrest, a wide player with an end product.
“I think it’s going to be very difficult to see Rangers coming away with three points. Anything can happen; it’s achievable. They can do it but I’m just not sure that they can.”
Can Rangers pip Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title?
If Clement’s team are to pip the Hoops to the league title this season, they must do something they have yet to achieve so far – beat them.
The rivals have faced off on three occasions this campaign, with Celtic claiming two victories while the most recent game at Ibrox saw the points shared in a dramatic 3-3 draw.
The Hoops have regained many of their key players in recent weeks, which could be key, as Clement continues to suffer from several key injuries, including Abdallah Sima, Connor Goldson, Danilo and Oscar Cortes.

Despite a few setbacks, like the 3-2 defeat to Ross County and 0-0 draw with Dundee at Dens Park, Rangers are still in a good position to fend off their Old Firms rivals.
However, it is difficult to see a way in which the Gers can lift the Scottish Premiership trophy without beating Celtic at Celtic Park on Saturday 11 May.
In other Rangers news, a regular Clement starter is now going to sign a deal to leave the club.
