Rangers defender Connor Goldson may now never play at Ibrox as news emerges

Rangers defender Connor Goldson may have played his final game at Ibrox as news emerged from the club this week.

Ahead of the game against Kilmarnock on 5 May, Philippe Clement confirmed that the English defender’s season has come to a premature end.

This is due to his knee injury and he is not expected to recover in a month’s time – a blow to the Belgian’s plans as they hope to regain the SPFL title.

In recent weeks, the 31-year-old’s future has come under scrutiny and his form also has been erratic, to say the least.

He has been criticised by fans as well as pundits for his poor displays and there is reported interest from Saudi Arabia.

Given the financial strength of teams in the Middle East, they could even offer “crazy money” for the English centre-back.

The fact that he’s linked with the exit door and his season-ending injury, there is a chance fans may never see him at Ibrox.

Goldson may be tempted to leave Ibrox due to the financial incentives offered by clubs in Saudi Arabia.

At 31, he might view this as his last significant opportunity for a lucrative contract.

Having already won the league with Rangers, he might feel he has achieved his main goals in Scotland and could be open to a new challenge.

The prospect of a life-change salary and the chance to experience a different football culture could appeal to him, especially if he feels he has accomplished what he set out to do with Gers.

In other Rangers news, a European club may now be ready to splash millions on a first-team Gers player after their recent announcement.
