Kris Boyd shares two-word Rangers v Kilmarnock verdict while covering Celtic on Sky Sports News
Kris Boyd has said he “can’t lose” ahead of the “Kris Boyd derby” between Rangers and Kilmarnock at Ibrox on 5 May.
Boyd, 40, represented both Rangers and Kilmarnock over his 18-year career and now works as a pundit following his retirement in 2019.
The Gers face Kilmarnock in their next outing as they look to keep the pressure on Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
Boyd was reminded that the upcoming fixture between Rangers and Kilmarnock is the “Kris Boyd derby” by Julian Warren.
Speaking on Sky Sports News while covering the match between Celtic and Hearts (03:05pm, 4 May), he simply replied: “Can’t lose.”
The ‘Kris Boyd derby’ between Rangers and Kilmarnock
Boyd has bounced between Rangers and Kilmarnock throughout his footballing career – even doing so in his academy days.
He began as a full-back in the Gers’ youth system before being released and joining Kilmarnock, where he was reformed as a striker.
The Irvine-born forward broke into the first team in 2001 and spent five years at the club before moving back to Glasgow in 2006.
He remained with the Gers until 2010 before departing on a string of short-term moves with Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Eskisehirspor and Portland Timbers before returning to Scotland in 2013.
Boyd spent a year each at Kilmarnock and then Rangers before returning to the former in 2015 and staying there until his retirement four years later.

With a combined 551 appearances across all competitions in total between the two sides (333 for Kilmarnock, 218 for Rangers), it’s safe to say Boyd is invested in the success of both teams.
However, it is Rangers who stand to lose more from dropping points in this fixture – they are three points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and cannot afford to lose ground with only four matches remaining.
