West Ham defender Ben Johnson stance emerges as Rangers want to seal transfer

West Ham defender Ben Johnson wants assurances over his playing time amid Rangers, Leeds United and Crystal Palace links, according to the Athletic.

The media outlet reported on 3 May that the English defender believes a fresh start would benefit him and has rejected multiple contract offers at the London Stadium.

The 24-year-old’s contract at the Premier League will be running out at the end of the season.

Rangers must sign West Ham defender Ben Johnson

Johnson could be a valuable addition to Rangers, offering versatility and depth to their defensive line.

As a natural right-back with the ability to play on the left, he would provide much-needed cover and competition for existing players and could push James Tavernier to get better, if he does not leave.

At just 24 years old, Johnson’s best years are ahead of him, and his experience in the Premier League would be a significant asset to Gers.

However, they must act fast to secure his signature and he can potentially replace the outgoing Borna Barisic too.

Crystal Palace are keen on signing Johnson, and with interest from Leeds United as well, the competition is fierce.

To successfully bring Johnson to Ibrox, the 55-time champions need to present a convincing offer that includes assurances regarding playing time.

Given his desire for a fresh start and more regular first-team football, Philippe Clement’s side must demonstrate their commitment to providing him with the opportunities he seeks.

Additionally, Gers should highlight their recent success and the potential for further achievements in domestic and European competitions.

In other Rangers news, a European club may now be ready to splash millions on a first-team Gers player after their recent announcement.
