John Lundstram delays Rangers exit as Ibrox transfer offer submitted
Trabzonspor have reportedly made John Lundstram an offer – but the soon-to-be-out-of-contract midfielder is delaying his decision as he focuses on trying to win the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers, according to the Daily Record.
The report on back page and page 50 of the newspaper on 2 May states that the Turkish side have agreed terms with Borna Barisic and are “confident” of adding Lundstram as well.
The offer made by Trabzonspor is reportedly an attractive three-year deal which would see the 30-year-old’s wages increase – despite his present status as one of the Gers’ highest earners.
Rangers should prepare for John Lundstram exit
While Barisic’s departure upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season has been thought of as something of a forgone conclusion for some time now, Lundstram’s situation has been markedly less clear.
Lundstram’s status as one of Belgian head coach Philippe Clement’s most trusted players – Lundstram is one of just four Rangers players to have played over 4,000 minutes across all competition alongside Jack Butland, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson – has seen the club attempt to keep hold of the midfielder.
However, reports have varied regarding the player’s own position on staying – at one stage, the 30-year-old penning an extension looked to be the most likely outcome, but Trabzonspor’s aggressive pursuit of the midfielder has thrown a spanner in the works.

With Lundstram a free agent at the end of the season, he remains free to move elsewhere if he receives an offer that he deems suitable – though he has not yet penned terms with any club as things stand.
His decision to focus on Rangers’ pursuit of both the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish FA Cup demonstrates good professionalism – but the lack of agreement over an extension suggests the Gers should prepare for his departure.
