Connor Goldson nowhere to be seen as Sky Sports footage emerges ahead of Rangers v Kilmarnock
Connor Goldson was not present at Rangers training on Friday 3 May ahead of the Ibrox clash with Kilmarnock, according to Sky Sports News.
The news outlet were present at Auchenhowie to oversee training before the big game on Sunday 5 May, where the team were being put through their paces by Philippe Clement.
But Sky Sports reporter Mark Benstead revealed that central defender Goldson wasn’t present with the team, with an update from Clement expected later on his availability during the pre-game press conference.
“Just looking out there I don’t see any Connor Goldson at training,” he said.
“So that will be interesting. We’ll get an update from Philippe Clement later on.”
Time for Rangers to move on from Connor Goldson?
Goldson has been a huge figure in the centre of defence for the Ibrox club in recent years, but his influence is seemingly waning.
Some poor performances this season have seen fans call his future into question, and Clement has reacted in recent games by axing him from the starting lineup and going with a pairing of Leon Balogun and John Souttar instead.
Speculation has been rife about interest from Saudi Arabia and former manager Steven Gerrard ahead of the summer transfer window, and with two years remaining on his contract in Glasgow it could be time for the club to part ways.
There is no disputing how good Goldson has been in the past, but he is getting older now and the team may need some fresh legs and voices in the side to be able to move to the next level.
Clement has some big decisions to make this summer, and the future of Goldson is most certainly one of them.
In other Rangers news, the club are optimistic about completing an “unbelievable” transfer deal with a £20m sale mooted already.
