Rangers blasted by South American journalist as Jhon Arias transfer news emerges
Colombian journalist Carlos Antonio Velez has blasted Rangers and Scottish football after seeing Jhon Arias linked with a move to Ibrox.
AS Colombia reported on 11 April that the Gers are interested in signing the Colombia winger.
In a post on X on 30 April, Velez slammed the Scottish Premiership in an aggressive fashion and shared his hope for the links to the 26-year-old to be false.
He said: “Isn’t there something better for such a promising, capable and influential player? Scotland DOES NOT EXIST on the European map of high competition.
“I hope it’s smoke!”
Should Rangers sign Jhon Arias?
Arias has various clubs targeting his signature but the Light Blues may still remain hopeful in making him theirs.
He is a versatile winger who can play on either side and is currently featuring regularly for Fluminense in the Brazilian Serie A.
The 26-year-old has played four times so far this season which began on 14 April and is yet to score but has registered an assist [FotMob].
He may be tempted into a move to Ibrox given that his fellow countryman, Oscar Cortes is there despite currently being injured.
It is unclear as to whether the 20-year-old’s loan will be made permanent but he could certainly influence the deal for Arias.
The Fluminense man is great with the ball at his feet as he looks to run at his marker while also having an eye for a pass. His discipline may come as a worry, but Alfredo Morelos did alright with a similar temperament.
Rangers must ignore Velez and pursue Arias as they look to make the title race easy next season.
In other Rangers news, a first-team player has reached the end of his cycle at Ibrox and a £2m transfer may be on the cards.
