VAR review says how many times it’s been wrong against Rangers in Scottish Premiership

A review of VAR decisions has deemed that two decisions have gone against Rangers in the past two months of Scottish Premiership action.

There has been a review of the Video Assistant Referee which has looked at fixtures between April and May.

The panel has since suggested that 10 mistakes have been made across this period with two of them affecting Rangers.

A report by Sky Sports has dissected the review to outline which decisions have gone against the Gers in recent months.

They said: “Rangers had two go against them. It was deemed that Gers midfielder Dujon Sterling should not have been sent off in the home win over Aberdeen in February.

“Philippe Clement’s side should not have had a penalty awarded against them for handball in their 2-1 victory away to Kilmarnock later that month.”

How has VAR affected Rangers?

The first decision which negatively affected the Light Blues was when Sterling was sent off at Ibrox against Aberdeen.

At the time, upon watching replays. it was clear that the Englishman hadn’t caught the opposition player and had rather caught himself in the turf.

Greg Aitken suggested that the onfield referee had a look at the monitor but the decision was maintained and Sterling walked.

The second decision that VAR were wrong with saw a penalty awarded against John Lundstram for handball v Kilmarnock.

On reflection, the ball strikes him with his arms tucked into his body which is why the Englishman was so bemused by the decision.

It must be said that these decisions didn’t see Clement’s side lose any points as they picked up wins in both games.

They are still in the title race despite these poor decisions which is a testament to the team.
