Rangers transfer news emerges as ‘really interesting’ Sam Lammers exit mooted
Sam Lammers could leave Rangers for good this summer after his loan spell at Utrecht, with the Ibrox club tipped to recoup more money than they paid for him last year, according to Jonny McFarlane.
Lammers arrived at Ibrox under Michael Beale last summer and failed to make a positive impact of any kind before he was quickly shipped off when the January transfer window opened.
However, an impressive run of form in the Eredivisie has led to suggestions that Gers could cash in on his sale, although they may only want to break even on his exit.
Speaking to The Rangers Review [1 May], McFarlane explained: “I think Lammers is a really interesting one. If Sam Lammers was going to be arriving in Scotland we’d all be very excited with that as a potential signing.
“I think they should be playing hardball when it comes to his signing. Rangers should be able to more than get their money back. This is a player who is really performing to a high level in the Eredivisie.
“I don’t think Rangers is the right club for him and I think he’ll be sold on but I think he’s increased his value. I think they would want to reclaim the cash they’ve paid and just move on.”
Could Sam Lammers quit Rangers for good this summer
Lammers has scored nine goals in 15 league games since making the loan move and has been in impressive form which, as McFarlane says, would excite the fans at Ibrox if he were to be making the move in the opposite direction.
However, his terrible performances in the SPFL throughout his first six months in Glasgow were shocking, leading to his rapid exit, and will not be quickly forgotten by the fans and the club, making a permanent exit likely this summer.
If they are able to recoup most of the £3million paid for him last summer, or perhaps even more than that as McFarlane suggests may be possible, the deal would have to be looked at as a good one as far as the Ibrox club are concerned.

This would then allow Clement and Nils Koppen to reinvest the money into more key areas of the squad to improve the team and allow for extra competition as they try to build upon what has been a successful season since the boss arrived.
In other Rangers news, one loanee has had his hopes of a permanent move dashed.
