Philippe Clement told to ‘move on’ Connor Goldson and John Lundstram in Rangers transfer verdict

Rangers need to “move on” Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Connor Goldson to progress under Philippe Clement this summer, according to Kevin Kyle.

The Light Blues are expected to make changes under the Belgian during the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting both Lundstram and Barisic have already agreed contracts with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Goldson has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia ahead of the end of the season and while nothing has been agreed as of yet, BBC Sport pundit Kyle insists that all three players “need to be gone” come the summer.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (30 April, 50:48) he said: “I think for Rangers to move on, those players need to be gone. Barisic, your Lundstrams and your Goldsons, they need to move on.”

Will Rangers lose Borna Barisic, John Lundstram and Connor Goldson in the transfer window?

There is a feeling that there are a number of players in Clement’s Rangers side currently that don’t have what it takes to help lead the Light Blues to a Premiership title in the near future and the three Kyle named are often those in the firing line.

When he is at his best, Lundstram is capable of being one of the best players north of the border. The only issue for the Englishman is the fact that he is so inconsistent and cannot be counted on to perform week in and week out.

It has been clear that Barisic’s future lies away from Ibrox for some time now and supporters won’t lose much sleep if the Croatian departs for nothing this summer. When he has been handed chances by Clement he has flattered to deceive.

Goldson’s situation remains less clear as the defender has been poor in recent weeks but has had the complete backing of his manager. Talk about his future is unlikely to go away in the coming weeks and months, but it feels more likely he will stay put.
