Ianis Hagi transfer problem emerges at Rangers, Philippe Clement will not be impressed
Ianis Hagi could present an issue for Rangers when he returns from his loan spell with Alaves as a transfer decision will need to be made on his long-term future at Ibrox.
This is according to The Rangers Review journalist Jonny McFarlane, who insisted Philippe Clement will not be impressed with Hagi’s form while out on loan.
He went on to suggest that Gers will have to consider if they will have to entertain a permanent sale this summer, as his performances at the European Championships could dictate his future.
Speaking on The Rangers Review [1 May], McFarlane shared: “When Hagi is right, I think in the Premiership he’s shown that he can score goals and create goals.
“I wouldn’t march him out of the door but he’s obviously had a major injury.
“That’s one I think they’ll have to consider based on the Euros, but I don’t think Clement will be impressed with what he’s doing in La Liga so that’s another problem to solve.”
Will Ianis Hagi leave Rangers on a permanent transfer?
Hagi quickly became a fan-favourite at Ibrox during the 2019-20 season, in the Europa League campaign, especially with that free-kick against Braga sticking in the minds of many of the Ibrox faithful who will hope he can return to that level of form.
However, a serious injury put a huge dent in his progress as a player, and an unsuccessful loan move to Alaves will have done little to boost the opinion of him at Ibrox. It now looks likely that a decision will have to be made on his long-term future.
Gheorghe, his dad, recently spoke out to confirm that Hagi will return to Ibrox after his loan spell amid links with a move to Galatasaray, as he insisted he is focused on ending the season with Alaves before returning to Glasgow.

Derek Ferguson, meanwhile, echoed McFarlane’s claims about Clement, insisting that Hagi isn’t the sort of player the boss will want at Ibrox, with plenty of options already playing in his position and the fact his loan move hasn’t worked out in Spain.
