Rangers defender Borna Barisic faced surgery risk post Celtic clash – Doctor

Rangers defender Borna Barisic could’ve been out for three months if the club had misread the injury severity v Celtic, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that after the Old Firm game at the end of March, there were fears of him being out for a while after he was spotted holding his hamstring.

While it was something that could’ve led to surgery, the club nipped it in the bud and it was not as serious to rule him out of action either.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

Worst case scenario would have been a muscle rupture requiring surgery and over three months out.

After the game, the club would have made sure to limit the stress through the area so as to not aggravate the injury.

That certainly has helped in his recovery as he was back to action right away and may now be close to a 100 per cent if not already there.

It did not appear to be serious but initial readings can sometimes be wrong even though that was not the case.

Borna Barisic could leave Rangers at the end of the season

Barisic started the season as the first-choice left-back for the Ibrox outfit but eventually ended up losing his spot to Ridvan Yilmaz.

Despite Yilmaz’s injury, Philippe Clement has preferred to play Dujon Sterling in that role, showing that the Crotian is third in the pecking order.
