Rangers set for compensation as Zeb Jacobs agrees Ibrox exit on Monday

Rangers are set for a small compensation fee after it was confirmed that Zeb Jacobs will move to Feyenoord in the summer, according to The 4th Official.

The news outlet wrote on its Patreon that the Belgian is departing Ibrox to head to the Eredivisie club, with Rangers in line to pocket a small amount of compensation.

Rangers only brought Jacobs to Glasgow back in 2021 as their Head of Academy Coaching, and he was promoted to Academy Director in June 2023.

Rangers will need to appoint Jacobs replacement at Ibrox

Rangers have seen several academy prospects become staples of their first team under Jacobs’ tutelage, with one of them in the thick of things as Philippe Clement’s side look to chase down Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Northern Ireland international Ross McCausland has become a regular for Clement, scoring twice in 34 appearances this season, and came off the bench in Rangers’ 2-1 win over St Mirren on 28 April.

20-year-old centre-back Leon King has also played a bit-part role over the last three seasons at Ibrox, while highly-rated midfielder Alex Lowry recently returned to Rangers following a loan spell at Hearts.

However, Jacobs’ departure to Feyenoord – whom Rangers signed Brazilian striker Danilo from in July 2023 – leaves a hole that will need filling in the club’s academy, with potential replacements yet to be listed.

The Ibrox academy has produced players of high calibre before Jacobs was even at the club, including Billy Gilmour and Nathan Patterson, so the club will be keen for his successor to play a big part in bringing through the next batch of top-tier talent.

In other news, a first-team player looks to have reached the end of his cycle at Ibrox with a £2m transfer on the cards.
