Doctor issues career-ending claim on Rangers defender Connor Goldson after surgery
Rangers defender Connor Goldson faced a minute risk of his career being ended post heart surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert has reacted to comments made by the English centre-back after he admitted he wanted to die after undergoing heart surgery back in 2017. [Rangers Review, 17 April]
This happened before he was at Gers and was still plying his trade for English club Brighton and Hove Albion and he has since recovered very well.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“The comments sound like something in the spur of the moment while he was having extremely high levels of pain and perhaps some of it also stemmed from doubt over the future of his career.
“In terms of something like this being career ending, that would be say if the surgery isn’t successful and the structure of the heart remains high risk.
“However, that is not the case with him now as he’s recovered well even though there was the risk, however minute as is with all players when he underwent the surgery.“
Rangers defender Connor Goldson has fought his way through it all
It takes courage for Goldson to not just admit all of it but also come back stronger after his surgery to become the player he is.
He’s one of the club’s most revered players and is undoubtedly an important dressing room presence as well.

While he has been linked with an exit in the summer, Philippe Clement is expected to want to keep him at the club given how many games he’s played under the Belgian.
In other Rangers news, a first-team player has reached the end of his cycle at Ibrox and a £2m transfer may be on the cards.
