BBC pundit tears into ‘naive’ Fabio Silva live on air for what he did in Rangers showdown v St Mirren
Rangers forward Fabio Silva has been torn into live on air by for a “naive” incident in the Gers’ Scottish Premiership clash with St Mirren.
Philippe Clement’s side boosted their feint title hopes with a 2-1 win at Paisley on Sunday (28 April) thanks to an own goal from James Bolton and Cyriel Dessers’ header to keep the pace with Celtic at the top of the table.
While the Gers’ performance was an improvement when compared to their recent outings, the Light Blues started incredibly slowly and BBC Scotland pundit McCann was quick to slam Silva for a foul on Coalan Boyd-Munce.
Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland (28 April, 12:23) he said: “What is he doing? It’s just so naive. He’s going nowhere and he’s under pressure.
“Either just stand behind him and get him back towards his own goal or try and nick it but you give him the opportunity to St Mirren to load your box again.”
Will Rangers sign Fabio Silva permanently in the summer transfer window?
Silva is quickly becoming one of the least likeable players in the Scottish game as he constantly gets criticised by supporters and pundits for moments of complete naivety where he either throws himself to the ground or does something stupid.
His challenge in Sunday’s game was completely stupid as the Gers had worked hard to clear their lines and stop the home side’s threat from a set-piece only for the Wolves loanee to immediately haul the St Mirren man to the floor.

Rangers decided to sign the forward because they felt he could fire them back into the title race this season, but so far the Portuguese striker has done little to suggest he was worth the investment in January.
It seems incredibly unlikely that the Gers will be at all interested in securing his signature on a permanent basis this summer. For the money it would cost to get him out of Molineux permanently, the Light Blues could find a much better striker.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have been backed to sanction the sale of James Tavernier for a “life-changing” transfer
