Hugh Keevins issues transfer claim on Rangers ace James Tavernier amid Saudi links

Hugh Keevins claims that if the offer is concrete from Saudi Arabia, Jamies Tavernier will be leaving Rangers in the summer.

The Daily Record journalist believes that everyone in Glasgow would move there if they were presented with a concrete offer.

Tavernier and Connor Goldson have both been linked with a reunion with Steven Gerrard, the manager of Al-Ettifaq.

He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on 26 April: “Everyone in the city of Glasgow would do what James Tavernier will do if the offer is made concrete. They will go.”

Nothing suggests James Tavernier will leave Rangers

While Keevins claims that Tavernier will leave Ibrox for Saudi Arabia if a concrete offer is made, the reality is that nobody knows for sure what’s on Tavernier’s mind.

Philippe Clement has not indicated that Tavernier, a fan favourite, will be leaving the club, suggesting that he is expected to remain a Rangers player next season.

Clement’s comments reflect a level of confidence in the players staying put, as he has not heard anything from Gerrard about a potential move.

The Belgian also mentioned that he expects players to come to him if they have doubts or want to leave, but there has been no reason for him to speak to Tavernier about his future.

However, things can change quickly in football, and a concrete offer from Saudi Arabia could potentially sway Tavernier’s decision.

The allure of a lucrative contract and the opportunity to reunite with Gerrard might be tempting for the captain so it’s premature to make any calls.
