Rangers team news v St Mirren: Abdallah Sima one of four players who could be ruled out

Philippe Clement has confirmed that Abdallah Sima will be out of action for a “couple of weeks” for Rangers ahead of their clash with St Mirren.

The Gers got back to winning ways with a dominant performance against Hearts at Hampden Park last week, and will be looking to get back to winning ways in the SPFL to put pressure on Celtic in the title chase.

But the boss will be without Sima for the game, while Rabbi Matondo is a doubt with an injury after that cup semi-final and Ridvan Yilmaz and Ryan Jack are only expected to return to training next week.

“Sima will be out, I hope to see him again this season, he is very motivated for that,” he said during his pre-match press conference (26 April).

“Matondo got a bad tackle against Hearts and is doubtful for the weekend. Ridvan and Jack I expect back in training next week.”

Rangers know they must win every game to win the title

The title race is now at the business end of the season, and Clement and Rangers know they must win every game to have a chance.

The team currently sit three points behind Celtic in the table after a poor spell of results recently, but Clement has got the team back on track with the semi-final clash and the hope now will be they can stay focused.

There is still a treble to play for after winning the Scottish League Cup already this season, and considering where the team were when Clement first came in that is unbelievable.

Sima being absent is a huge blow, and the team are desperate for goals to be present in the squad, but there is enough talent in the side to beat St Mirren.

From there the team should only get stronger, but it’s time once again for other key players to step up and pull their weight.

In other Rangers news, the door has been opened for a major departure from Ibrox this summer after a rule change.
