Rangers dealt major blow as another star offered Ibrox exit route, Philippe Clement will be raging
Rangers captain James Tavernier has been made an official offer to move to Saudi Arabia and reunite with Steven Gerrard, according to Slaati.
Writing on their website (7 April), the Saudi news outlet report that Gerrard has convinced the management at Al Ettifaq to make the right-back an offer to take him away from Ibrox this summer.
The club have now made the 32-year-old an official offer, and with Philippe Clement and the board planning a “mini-revolution” at Ibrox during the summer transfer window it remains to be seen how he reacts to the offer.
Clement will be raging at new Rangers transfer developments
With Al Ettifaq making their move for Tavernier, that makes it three Ibrox stars who look like they could be on the verge of an exit before the season even comes to an end.
Borna Barisic is said to be “very close” to a free transfer to Turkish club Trabzonspor once his contract expires, while the same club also want to sign John Lundstram, with reports they have agreed a deal despite Clement making it clear he wants to keep him around.
That will surely leave the manager absolutely raging at the prospect of his squad being broken up against his wishes and could leave a risk that the team go backwards.
A title charge has emerged out of nowhere this season since his arrival and the manager needs to be backed to take the club forward, rather than trying to maintain the current level.

Losing Barisic won’t be ideal, but it’s something the team can navigate with Ridvan Yilmaz, Dujon Sterling and the impending arrival of Jefte.
Lundstram leaving is arguably not a bad thing either considering his age and the wages he will likely want, but it’s certainly not what the boss wants.
But adding to all of that, losing the captain and talisman of the team would be a horror start to the summer, and Rangers will have a lot of ground to make up in the transfer window just to stand still.
In other Rangers news, the club have set out their intentions to make one loan signing permanent this summer.
