Zeb Jacobs approached by Premier League giant over Rangers exit amid Feyenoord talks
Zeb Jacobs has been approached by a club at the “absolute” top of English football over a Rangers exit, according to 1908.
A report on the Dutch outlet’s website on 23 April that the Gers academy director was in demand with a top-ranking side south of the border having spoken to him but not the only club in the race.
Feyenoord are making a big push to appoint him as they look to replace Rini Coolen in Rotterdam and are seen to be leading the pursuit of the Belgian, who would have to serve out a notice period according to his contract in Glasgow but clubs don’t have to reach an agreement with Rangers to take him.
Rangers academy chief on the way out?
The Premier League club in question isn’t named but treble-winners Manchester City would certainly fit the description of being at the very top of English football, while Arsenal and Liverpool remain in a title race with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Either way, it seems that it may be the reigning Eredivisie champions who are in pole position to bring him in if he is as close to departing Rangers as has been suggested.
Such high-level interest in the 29-year-old suggests that Michael Beale, who was involved in bringing the former Royal Antwerp man to Ibrox in 2021, really was better in an assistant role rather than the manager’s job.

Jacobs only stepped up to his current position last summer so if he does depart it would hand James Bisgrove and company an important task they may not have anticipated yet to fill the gap he leaves behind.
It won’t be helpful in terms of continuity at the top of an academy which needs to send more talents through to the senior side but, just as with the playing staff, it is a reality at Rangers that successful figures will be at risk of being poached by big clubs in Europe or England, with Jack Butland the most high-profile star in the squad thought to be in the spotlight for a big-money move the Premier League.
