Rangers excitement as Harry Souttar backed to join John Souttar in ‘surreal’ Ibrox partnership
Derek Ferguson is excited at the prospect of Rangers uniting Harry Souttar with his brother John in the Ibrox defence.
The former Light Blues midfielder is in full support of forming the “surreal” partnership of the two centre-backs under Philippe Clement, after the Leicester City man was linked to a Gers move in the January transfer window, admitting he would have loved to partner his own brother, former captain Barry, at the heart of the club’s midfield.
The giant Australian international, Harry, has barely featured for the Championship-promotion chasing Foxes this term and hasn’t even been on the bench for over a month, so Ferguson hopes to see him arrive in Glasgow this summer.
He exclusively told Ibrox News: “That would be quite surreal. Thinking about it I would love that. That would be magic to see that.
“He’s about six foot six isn’t he, and I tell you what his brother’s played pretty well this season.
“It’s quite good to think that could be a partnership, that kind of excites me to be honest with you.
“I would love to see that. My God, that could have been like me partnering my brother in the middle of the park for Rangers.
“I know there’s a bit of an age gap there but I’d have loved something like that. It’s quite surreal but I would love to see that to be honest with you, aye, I’m all for that.”

Philippe Clement to partner Souttar brothers at Rangers?
It was said to be Ben Davies’ reluctance to leave in the winter that prevented a deal to bring in the younger Souttar, but the former Liverpool man hasn’t featured under Clement since December and looks highly likely to depart at the end of the campaign.
With uncertainty over Leon Balogun’s status, with the 35-year-old out of contract in the summer but impressive in place of the struggling Connor Goldson against Hearts at the weekend (21 April), and Leon King tipped to move on, changes appear certain in defence during the transfer window.
Harry, 25, is likely to be available after so little action under Enzo Maresca at the King Power, and is believed to be keen on playing alongside John, 27, in Glasgow.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues have been told it is a “no brainer” to snap up a player who just outshone Celtic for next to nothing.
