Rangers favourites to sign Abdallah Sima despite Premier League transfer development
Rangers are reportedly the favourites to sign on-loan winger Abdallah Sima from Brighton despite links crediting several Premier League clubs with interest, according to Rangers News.
The report on 23 April reveals that journalist Graeme Bailey believes that Brighton look “increasingly willing to cash in” on Sima this summer.
Despite the 22-year-old drawing attention from a number of teams in the English top flight, it seems as though Ibrox is the player’s “preferred destination”.
Abdallah Sima would be an astute signing for Rangers
Sima has proved himself an important member of the Rangers squad since arriving at Ibrox on loan last summer.
The winger has netted 16 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions – only captain and set-piece taker James Tavernier and first-choice centre-forward Cyriel Dessers have managed more among his teammates, and both have played more games.
Rangers, too, have proved a useful launching pad for Sima’s career, and it is understandable that he would want to continue his development at Ibrox.

After impressing for Slavia Prague in Czechia, he was signed by Brighton in the summer of 2021 before immediately being sent out on loan to Stoke City. However, that temporary move saw the Senegalese wide-man afforded just four first-team appearances before another loan to Ligue 1 and Angers proved more fruitful, if a little underwhelming. It has only been since his transfer to Scotland that he has begun to fulfil his potential.
Sima has yet to feature for Brighton and the chances of that happening now appear extremely unlikely – but if he is playing for Rangers next season, all parties are likely to be happy with the outcome.
