Rangers: Barry Ferguson tears into Fabio Silva live on air after incident in Hampden win v Hearts

Barry Ferguson has torn into Rangers forward Fabio Silva for an incident in the Light Blues’ Scottish Cup clash with Hearts.

Philippe Clement’s side booked their place in another Hampden final with a 2-0 win on Sunday (21 April) but could have won much more comfortably as they wasted a couple of excellent goal-scoring chances.

Perhaps the best of the lot fell to Wolves loanee Silva in the second half, but the Portuguese forward ended up sprawled out in the penalty area as he failed to turn Cyriel Dessers’ cutback, much to Ferguson’s frustration.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (22 April, 25:45) he said: “I thought he made the right choice. I saw the manager saying after that he’s got to be a bit more greedy and have that killer instinct.

“I don’t know what Fabio Silva is doing. I don’t know what he’s doing. Dessers makes the right choice, it’s a really tight angle but I’m looking at him and thinking what are you doing? You’ve got to be aware that the ball could be cut back to him.”

Will Rangers sign Fabio Silva permanently from Wolves during the summer transfer window?

Silva has quickly become the laughingstock of the Scottish Premiership in the last few months. While the Wolves loanee has struggled to adapt to the Scottish game, he has been slammed for diving and attempting to deceive the officials.

The forward does bring some energy to the Light Blues’ frontline, but he lacks the composure required to add a clinical edge to Clement’s attack. He was signed to help the Gers win the Premiership and so far he hasn’t had that impact.

It feels unlikely Clement and his recruitment team behind the scenes at Ibrox will be rushing to try and secure Silva’s signature on a permanent basis come the end of the season. There must be better options available in the transfer market.

Hopefully, the Wolves loanee can find his shooting boots for the final few weeks of the Premiership campaign. With Abdallah Sima injured once again, the Light Blues could do with a consistent source of goals alongside Dessers.
