Rangers: BBC Sportscene pundit slams Cyriel Dessers live on air after what he did v Hearts
Callum Davidson criticised Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers for being “too nice” when failing to go for goal during the win over Hearts.
Dessers scored both the Gers’ goals in Sunday’s (21 April) 2-0 Scottish Cup semi-final victory over Hearts at Hampden Park.
However, the Nigeria international passed up the opportunity to score a hat-trick as he attempted to pick out Fabio Silva when in on goal.
Speaking on BBC Scotland’s Sportscene [21 April, 26m 40s], former Scotland defender Davidson said: “A top striker there, 2-0 up, you don’t pass it.
“For me, he’s been too nice – he has to score a hat-trick there.”
Cyriel Dessers sets up Rangers v Celtic final
Dessers was Rangers’ matchwinner against Hearts and therefore deserves credit, having had his fair share of critics prior to the game.
The 29-year-old has blown hot and cold this season, and he is often the one player singled out when the Gers fail to win, as was the case in the 0-0 midweek draw with Dundee.
However, he took both chances well at Hampden to show why he is Philippe Clement’s go-to man up top.

While Dessers probably should have gone for goal himself in this instance, he never expected Silva to fluff his lines from a few yards out.
Had Silva tapped the ball in, as he should have, we would have been hailing Dessers for both scoring goals and creating them.
The former Cremonese striker can be content with his double, though, which will hopefully now give him some renewed confidence.
