Rangers: Chris Sutton mocks Fabio Silva footage after 2-0 win v Hearts at Hampden Park
Chris Sutton has mocked footage of Fabio Silva as Rangers beat Hearts 2-0 in the Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden Park on 21 April.
The Portuguese attacker fell to the floor with the goal wide open ahead of him after a cutback from Cyriel Dessers, which looks even worse on the replays.
After some playacting against Celtic weeks ago, Sutton took this chance to mock Silva, joking that people who believe it wasn’t a penalty are biased.
Writing on his personal X account, Sutton reacted to the BBC footage: “People who say Silva dived here are biased.
“That’s a penalty.”
Fabio Silva to seal permanent Rangers transfer?
After his first few games at Ibrox, there was a sense that Silva would be a great permanent addition with his tenacity in and around the final third.
Recent events and the way he has acted have created doubts though, with his embarrassing antics showing no signs of stopping on the pitch.
Philippe Clement dropped the Wolves loanee at Hampden and his decision was vindicated as Dessers fired home both goals.
This may have been a genuine trip, but even the fall was dramatic, but not as bad as his theatrics against Celtic which embarrassed everyone.
Sutton couldn’t help himself as usual with this one, but it was back-to-business for Rangers on the pitch with their simple win over Hearts.
Celtic looked very fragile against a poor Aberdeen side on Saturday 20 April, and it is more than enough to prove that the Scottish Premiership title race is far from over yet.
Is the treble still on? You best believe it.
