Rangers team news v Hearts: Philippe Clement shares injury update as major boost shared
Philippe Clement has confirmed that Mohamed Diomande will be available for Rangers in their Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Hearts.
Diomande has missed the last three games after undergoing surgery on a thumb injury but is set to return to action at Hampden Park, but the boss revealed during his pre-game presser (19 April) that defender Ridvan Yilmaz is still a doubt with a thigh injury picked up on international duty.
The Ibrox club have failed to win any of their last three games and are now behind Celtic in the race for the SPFL title, which makes the cup clash all the more important.
Rangers must get back to winning ways v Hearts at Hampen Park
It’s been a long season for the Ibrox club, and fans had been given a huge amount of hope with performances over recent months that they were a serious club once again.
But a shock 3-3 draw with Celtic followed by a 3-2 defeat to Ross County and a 0-0 draw with Dundee have seen old habits rear their ugly head, and left Clement with a big task to rebuild the morale.
Performances from top individuals recently have been largely poor and have drawn criticism, but the manager needs to find a way to get them firing again as his options are limited.
Diomande’s return is an absolutely huge boost as it allows the manager to get an important player back into the side, but also allows more attacking players to move back into their best positions.
It won’t be easy with recent form, but this is a chance for Rangers to get fans back on side and get back to winning ways and it’s simply a must-win game for how the season will pan out.
