Rangers: Connor Goldson to earn ‘big money’ next season as Ibrox transfer discussed
Rangers defenders Connor Goldson and James Tavernier are not expected to leave Ibrox during the summer transfer window, according to Stephen McGinn.
The Light Blues duo have come under fire from supporters and pundits alike for their poor displays in recent weeks, particularly following the Gers’ defeat to Ross County and miserable draw with Dundee at Dens Park.
While a number of fans have called for Philippe Clement to cut ties with the “serial losers”, BBC Sport pundit McGinn has admitted he expects Goldson to remain on his “big money” deal at Ibrox.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (18 April, 19:45) he said: “The four that he’s named, only two of them are out of contract. The other two have got a couple of years left.
“I don’t know where Connor Goldson is going to go in the summer, he’s going to be about next season on big money with a couple of years left to go. James Tavernier, he’s been linked with Saudi Arabia over the last few months, but I don’t expect him to go anywhere either.”
Will James Tavernier and Connor Goldson leave Rangers and Ibrox in the summer transfer window?
Tension has been rising at Ibrox over the last few weeks because of several poor performances from Clement’s side and a lot of supporters’ frustrations have been directed at a couple of stalwarts of the Rangers side.
While Goldson and Tavernier have been miles off of their best in recent weeks, they are not the only ones to have been anonymous when the team has needed them the most. If anything, Tavernier has done all he can to drag the Gers through a couple of games.

Whether or not Clement’s side are capable of winning the Premiership with the defensive duo playing almost every game a season remains to be seen, but it would be naive to assume selling the pair would solve all of the Belgian’s problems.
There will almost certainly be plenty of movement in and out of Ibrox when the summer transfer window opens, but at this moment in time, it seems incredibly unlikely that both Goldson and Tavernier will be finding new clubs.
