Barry Ferguson details ‘horrible’ Rangers situation as Celtic title admission made
Rangers find themselves in a “horrible” position as they look to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title this season, according to Barry Ferguson.
Writing on the Daily Record website on Friday (19 April), the pundit said the Gers do still have their destiny in their own hands as they look to show why they deserve to be champions, but he admitted that they are going to have to do it in the “most difficult way imaginable”.
He added that they are not only going to have to go and beat the Hoops at Celtic Park, but they are also going to have to score more goals than their Old Firm rivals and hope that someone can maybe do them a favour or two along the way.
“The only positive thing I can say in their favour is that their destiny is still in their own hands,” said Ferguson. “They still have the chance to show that they do deserve to be champions. But, instead of making it easy for themselves, they’re going to have to do it the most difficult way imaginable.
“Not only will they have to beat Celtic at Parkhead on 11 May but they’re also going to have to score more goals than them and maybe hope for someone else to do them a turn or two along the way. And that’s a horrible position for them to find themselves in when they should have been in a commanding position going into the final stretch.
“Having been in this situation myself on a couple of occasions I know the stress levels involved in trying to win a title which might come down to goal difference on the final day.”
Rangers have uphill battle to beat Celtic to title
It’s going to be a difficult task for Rangers to now come out on top in the title race with Celtic after their past couple of results.
They have quickly gone from being in an excellent position to one where they are going to have to be just about perfect and even that might not be enough.
But the Gers can’t just focus on the title, their immediate attention needs to be on playing better and getting back to winning ways.

Philippe Clement will be demanding a big push from his players, who he previously managed to get a tune out of when they went on an incredible run following his arrival at Ibrox.
It would be a great disappointment if the Light Blues can’t at least take the title race into the final couple of weeks of the campaign, but they have to believe they can beat the Hoops and come out on top.
