Rangers: Philippe Clement will not be happy with what Cyriel Dessers has done at Ibrox
Kenny Miller has insisted Rangers fans and Philippe Clement will not be happy with Cyriel Dessers despite suggestions that a 20-goal season would be a “decent” output.
The former Ibrox man insisted that, aside from the goals he has scored, it’s the opportunities he has missed and his poor performances that will leave fans and the boss wanting more.
Dessers has been heavily criticised since his arrival in the summer for his inconsistency in front of goal, missing key chances and failing to provide a consistent source of threat from the front.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Football [17 April, 09:20pm], Miller shared: “If he can break the 20-goal mark I’m sure he’ll look back and think that’s actually decent numbers, but it’s the bigger picture, it’s been the ones that he’s missed and his overall performances.
“I’m sure Philippe Clement and the Rangers fans will want to see better.”
Rangers unhappy with Cyriel Dessers after recent displays
Ultimately, Miller is right in his criticism. No matter how many goals Dessers may go on to score this season, his performances have simply not been good enough and he remains a disappointing signing from last summer.
This came during the frustrating 0-0 draw with Dundee in which Dessers was dropped from the starting lineup thanks to his poor performances of late, as he failed to make an impact coming from the bench either in a toothless display.
The continued presence of Dessers up front has been a point of contention as a result of his constant disappointing displays which have seen him score just one goal in his last seven Rangers appearances in all competitions.

Frustration will only continue to grow amongst the supporters after the 0-0 draw, with Clement likely to draw criticism of his own, but if Dessers provided more of a threat going forward, who knows what position Rangers would be in?
