Rangers: Four Lads baffled by ‘bizarre’ Philippe Clement ‘waffle’ after draw v Dundee at Dens Park
Four Lads Had A Dream were left baffled by Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s “bizarre” press conference following the Gers’ draw with Dundee.
The Light Blues missed the opportunity to close the gap to Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership as they drew a blank and shared the points with a 0-0 draw at Dens Park on Wednesday (17 April).
After the game, Clement was quick to praise his side’s performance in his post-match press conference much to the confusion of Four Lads who labelled the Belgian’s comments “absolute waffle”.
Writing on X on Wednesday (17 April) he said: “A bizarre media press conference by Clement, everyone left almost speechless. ‘Only one team trying to win,’ ‘We created big chances,’ ‘My players gave everything,’ ‘We saw a reaction tonight,’ ‘Fans have to stick with the players’.
“Whilst I may be blind as a fan, maybe I don’t get it, I just don’t see it at all. Absolute waffle from start to finish.”
Celtic handed advantage over Rangers as Philippe Clement shows signs of title pressure
It was a shock to see Clement in such high spirits following the Gers’ draw at Dens Park on Wednesday, especially after the Rangers boss was so vocal in his unhappiness following the defeat against Ross County last time out.
There was so little in the performance to inspire the Belgian as his team were blunt going forward and occasionally shaky at the back with too many of the star players simply going through the motions from start to finish.
Whether Clement actually means what he is saying or is simply trying to protect his players from the incoming media onslaught remains to be seen, but it won’t fill fans with confidence to hear their manager in such good spirits.
Hopefully, Rangers finally show up and provide a reaction at Hampden against Hearts. If they let another opportunity at silverware pass them by, pressure could begin to mount on Clement and his side.
