Steven Davis calls out accusations against Rangers players at Ibrox
Steven Davis has insisted it is too early to be accusing the Rangers squad of fragility after their defeat to Ross County on Sunday 14 April.
Rangers are preparing to face Dundee in their rearranged Scottish Premiership fixture on 17 April, and Davis believes that after their shock 3-2 loss at Ross County, his former side have the character to produce a response.
Davis believes that Rangers’ revival in the second half of the campaign has shown they do have the mentality to compete with Celtic between now and the end of the season.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Davis said: “It’s a little bit early to be saying about fragility.
“It’s very easy to throw those accusations at the players and the club, but they are still in a strong position. Let’s judge that at the end of the season because they have shown a lot of character to get back into the title race from where they were.”
Rangers ready to prove Steven Davis right against Dundee
Rangers went into the first of their two games in hand four points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership but produced a woeful performance which saw them surrender a 1-0 lead to eventually lose 3-2.
Therefore, a win in their twice-postponed fixture against Dundee will not be enough for the Gers to overtake Celtic at the summit before the Premiership’s 33-game split, although they can still cut the gap to one point.

Understandably given the importance of their humiliating loss at Ross County, doubts have been raised over the mindset of some of Rangers’ key players, who may be missing the leadership skills of veterans like Davis, who retired earlier this year.
With their match against Dundee given the green light to be played at the third time of asking, Philippe Clement needs to rally his Rangers troops and make sure it’s a case of third-time lucky at Dens Park as they look to reignite their chase for the title.
