Rangers: BBC Sportsound pundit slams ‘anonymous’ Todd Cantwell for what he did v Dundee
Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell has been slammed for his “anonymous” performance in the Gers’ showdown with Dundee by Rory Loy.
Philippe Clement’s side missed the chance to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table ahead of the Premiership split as they drew 0-0 at Dens Park on Wednesday (17 April).
Despite having a string of excellent chances throughout the game, the Light Blues couldn’t find a winning goal and BBC Sportsound pundit Loy was quick to lay the blame at Cantwell’s door as he failed to impact proceedings.
Speaking on BBC Sportsound on Wednesday (17 April, 20:41) he said: “So has Cantwell, I thought he was the one player on Sunday who showed a little bit of drive and fight and I actually thought he played pretty well overall.
“But he’s been anonymous tonight.”
Todd Cantwell goes missing for Rangers again v Dundee as Celtic gain advantage in title race
Few Gers players have been criticised for going missing in big games more often than Cantwell. The Englishman has previously been slammed by Chris Sutton for failing to show his quality in Old Firm clashes with Celtic.
As Loy suggested, the midfielder did what he could to get the Gers going against Ross County last time out, but he still wasn’t able to produce the all-important moment of quality to drag Clement’s side back into the title race.

The same was true once again at Dens Park and it has become an all too familiar sight for Rangers fans. Clement has far too many talented players who flatter to deceive week in and week out at Ibrox and Cantwell is one of them.
It’s hard to see how the Gers win the Premiership title with these sorts of displays from their most important players. Something simply has to change or the Light Blues may as well just hand Celtic the title.
In other Rangers news, one pundit has suggested that Nicolas Raskin is “done” at Ibrox and expects Clement to sell the Belgian this summer
